Tile Repair on Long Island

Most tile problems are fixable without a full re-tile if you catch them early. We diagnose honestly and repair cleanly.

Common tile repairs we handle

Cracked floor tile from substrate flex or impact, loose tile in showers and backsplashes, hollow-sounding tile that did not bond well to thinset, missing or chipped tile near doorways and corners, and damaged shower tile after a leak repair.

When repair is the right call

When the substrate is sound, the waterproofing is intact, and only a few tiles are damaged, repair is the right answer. We can color-match grout in most cases and source matching tile when it is still available.

When repair is not the right call

If a shower wall is leaking, regrouting and recaulking will not solve it. The membrane behind the tile failed, and the honest fix is to open up and rebuild the wet area. We tell you that up front rather than charge for a temporary patch.

FAQ

Tile Repair — Frequently Asked Questions

Can you match my existing tile?
Sometimes. If the tile is still produced, yes. If it is discontinued, we look for close matches or work with you on a partial replacement plan.
How long does a tile repair take?
Most small repairs are completed in a single visit, with grout cure time before the area can get wet again.
Can you replace just one or two cracked tiles?
Yes — that’s most of what tile repair is. The challenge is matching the original tile if it’s old or discontinued. If you have spares from the original install, great. If not, we can usually find a close enough match, or we can re-tile a small section creatively (like the corner of a backsplash) so the repair looks intentional.
What if tiles keep cracking in the same spot?
That’s a substrate problem, not a tile problem. A flexing subfloor, a settled slab, or a missing crack-isolation membrane will keep cracking new tiles too. We diagnose the cause first — replacing tile without fixing the root issue is just a temporary cosmetic patch.
How much does tile repair cost?
Single-tile repairs typically start around $200–$400 depending on access, tile match, and grout matching. Larger sections, shower repair (which involves waterproofing), or full re-tile of a wet area runs more — we give a written estimate before any work starts.
Can you repair tile while we’re still using the bathroom?
Often, yes — a single-tile floor repair leaves the bathroom usable in 24 hours. A shower repair that involves removing tile and waterproofing requires the shower be out of service for several days while the membrane cures.
