Tile Replacement on Long Island

Replacing tile right means evaluating what is underneath, not just swapping the surface.

When tile replacement is the right scope

Sometimes a few tiles need to come out. Sometimes a full room does. We help you sort which one your situation actually is, especially when there is water staining, soft subfloor, or evidence of a leak.

What we evaluate before replacing tile

Substrate condition, waterproofing in wet areas, surrounding grout and caulk, and tile availability. We are honest when partial replacement will visibly mismatch.

FAQ

Tile Replacement — Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace just one tile?
Yes, if the surrounding tile is solid and we can match. Removing a single tile cleanly without damaging neighbors is a slow, careful job.
How is replacement different from repair?
Repair is a few tiles or a small area. Replacement is full re-tile of a surface — usually a shower, a backsplash, or an entire bathroom floor. Replacement gives us the chance to fix substrate or waterproofing issues that a repair can’t address.
Should I retile or remodel the whole bathroom?
Honest answer: depends on how dated everything else is. If the vanity, fixtures, and layout are fine and you just hate the tile, retile is a much cheaper way to transform the room. If everything is original to a 1970s Long Island Cape, a full remodel often makes more sense.
Can you save the existing tub or vanity during a tile replacement?
Usually yes. We protect tile-adjacent fixtures during demo. Older tubs sometimes get damaged during removal of old tile; we can refinish or replace if needed and coordinate with a Long Island reglaze or plumbing pro.
What’s the timeline?
A bathroom-floor-only retile is usually 3–4 working days. A full shower retile (with proper waterproofing) is 5–8 working days. A full bathroom retile (floor + shower + tub surround) is 7–10 working days.
