Ceramic Tile Installation on Long Island

Ceramic is a great fit for backsplashes and walls where its softer body, easier cuts, and wider style range are advantages.

Bright and stylish modern kitchen featuring blue accents, wooden shelves, and stainless steel appliances.

Where ceramic shines

Backsplashes, bathroom walls, accent strips, and lower-traffic floors. Ceramic is easier to cut and shape than porcelain, which makes it the natural choice for detailed installs like mosaics and patterned strips.

When porcelain is the better call

Heavy-traffic floors, wet floors, exterior areas, and large-format installs. We will be honest about which material fits your project.

FAQ

Ceramic Tile Installation — Frequently Asked Questions

Is ceramic cheaper than porcelain?
Typically yes, but it depends on the line and finish. The material cost is only part of the install cost.
When is ceramic better than porcelain?
For walls — backsplashes, wainscoting, accent walls — ceramic is lighter, easier to cut, and often cheaper. It’s also great for budget-friendly bathrooms. We don’t recommend pure ceramic for floors in high-traffic areas; porcelain holds up better long-term.
Is subway tile still in style?
Yes — classic 3x6 subway is essentially timeless, and patterned variations (vertical stack, herringbone, picket) keep it fresh. We install more subway tile than any other single style on Long Island kitchen backsplashes.
Can ceramic tile chip easily?
Heavy impact can chip any tile. Higher-fired ceramics resist chipping well; very soft, hand-glazed ceramics are more delicate. We help you match the tile rating to where it’s being installed so you don’t end up with a chip on day one.
How is grout maintained on ceramic tile?
Seal the grout after install and re-seal every 1–2 years (or use epoxy / urethane grout, which doesn’t need sealing). Wipe with a pH-neutral cleaner — avoid vinegar and harsh acids, which break grout sealers down.
