How Long Does Tile Installation Take?

Tile work has cure times that cannot be rushed. Here is how long the most common projects actually take.

Bathroom floor only

A standard bathroom floor with proper substrate prep usually runs 2–3 working days: demo and prep, set tile, grout. The space is typically usable in 24–48 hours after grout, depending on the products used.

Kitchen backsplash

Most kitchen backsplashes are a 1–2 day job: set tile day one, grout day two. The cooktop and outlets behind the tile are out of service during the job, but the rest of the kitchen is usable.

Full custom shower

Demo, framing repair if needed, cement board, waterproofing, tile, grout, and final silicone — typically 4–7 working days. Waterproofing and grout cure times are real and not skippable.

Full bathroom renovation (floor + shower)

A full primary-bath or hall-bath tile renovation usually runs 5–8 working days for tile work alone. If plumbing, electrical, drywall, vanity, and paint are part of the scope, total project time can run 2–4 weeks.

Why timelines feel longer than the work

A lot of the calendar time is curing, not labor. Waterproofing cures. Thinset cures. Grout cures. Pushing those times leads to failure. We schedule realistic timelines so the work actually lasts.
